Las relaciones públicas como materia científica: el impacto de la neurociencia

Resumen

Los esfuerzos por dotar a las relaciones públicas de un carácter científico, han generado la opinión extendida de que constituyen una ciencia social. Pero la falta de una producción teórica ajustada al método científico, junto al marcado carácter interdisciplinar de su corpus, nos impiden considerarla como ciencia por derecho propio. Es cierto que la investigación neurocientífica ha abierto la puerta al uso de datos empíricos para estudiar los procesos cerebrales en emisores y receptores, durante la práctica de acciones de relaciones públicas. Sin embargo, dichas técnicas siguen requiriendo de contrastación con métodos clásicos en comunicación, sujetos a la interpretación contextual.
